Welcome to the IMBC Regional Speed Test Tool

Verifying your Internet service speeds will let you know if you're receiving the bandwidth that you've subscribed to, and it can have substantial impact on eligibility for grant funding.

If you subscribe to satelite internet service (Starlink, Viasat, etc.) or a wireless service that serves your location with unlicensed fixed wireless technology (not cellular home Internet service), this test may not generate consistent speed test results.

Getting Ready for the Speed Test


This speed test tool collects location-specific Internet speed test information, including:

  • Upload and download speeds
  • Public IP address (the address of your network router)
  • Information that you voluntarily submit

The speed test data, excluding your address and any information that you provide later, automatically feeds the M-Lab database. Additionally, the IMBC will receive the speed test data, the IP address associated with the test location, and any other information that you choose to provide at the end of the speed test. We'll use that information to verify that your location's served status is accurate in the State and Federal databases. The information may also be used for research. If you choose not to consent, simply close the browser tab or window. If you agree to participate, we will ask for your contact information so that we can communicate with you. You are not required to provide this information, and any information that you do provide will not be shared publicly.
